Summer is here once again and what better way to enjoy the season that to be out in the sun. Whether you’re planning on a summer vacation cruise, a weekend at the beach, or simply want to enjoy summer activities at the park, you will need proper skin care products to protect your skin from the sun and other outdoor elements.
Skin products designed to protect the skin from sunburn and ultraviolet rays vary from one type to other. Often, it seems complicated to choose from a wide variety of skin care products for protection against the sun with products that vary in brand, SPF levels, and products that come in various forms. With so many options available, how does one find out which sunblock or sunscreen to choose best?
Sunscreens are actually produced and categorized in two major types. The first type is what is called as the physical blocker. Derived from the term, a physical blocker sunscreen is a sun lotion formula that blocks sun and its ultraviolet rays from directly penetrating the skin. This type of sunscreen is applied directly on the skin and allows you to stay under the sun right after application. You may use this type of sunscreen thrice a day.
The second major type of sunscreen is what is called chemical blocker. A chemical blocker sunscreen allows skin to absorb its active ingredients that act to protect the skin by gently breaking up harmful elements such as ultraviolet rays that may penetrate through skin.
Sunscreen variations that you choose may also depend on the type of activity that you will enage in,. For outdoor activities such as swimming and other water sports, you will a water resistant sunscreen to protect your skin from ultraviolet rays.
Sunscreens may come in the form of lotions, creams, liquid sprays, and even gels. Knowing which skin products are right for your skin and are designed for type of outdoor activities that you will engage will help you choose to get the ultimate skin protection that you need from harmful effects of the sun such as sunburn and ultraviolet rays. When applying sunscreen, make sure to cover all areas of the body may be exposed to the sun. Apply sunscreen generously and as often as possible or as prescribed in the directions of the package. For some types of sunscreens, you may have to allow for your skin to absorb its active agents.
